A tally of 120 people took part in a walk on the campus of Florida Gulf Coast University to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project.

The event March 8 was hosted by Best Home Services, an HVAC, plumbing and electrical company.

All proceeds go toward providing mental health, career counseling and long-term rehabilitative care services for men and women who are wounded service members and their families. A figure for how much was raised was not available.

Wounded Warrior Project since 2003 has been meeting the needs of warriors, their families, and caregivers by helping them achieve their ambitions.

Best Home Services General Manager Bill Watkins said the company has many veterans as employees and customers.

"Our goal is to help the community learn more about the (the project) and support all those who served," he said.

Jake Norotsky, a Wounded Warrior representative and combat veteran who served multiple tours in Iraq as a helicopter crew member, attended the event.

The weight of his experiences while in service made it difficult to balance his roles as a father and husband, but after a friend connected him to the program, Norotsky said he found the support he needed.
