Apr. 2—SUPERIOR — An initiative that has brought over 1,100 people together for community wellness activities is now part of the University of Wisconsin-Superior's Pruitt Center for Mindfulness and Well-Being.

LiveWell Northern WI is now known as simply LiveWell and its scope is expanding, according to a news release.

The initiate launched in 2022 with community partners providing funding for free events to help Superior area community members connect with one another and improve their well-being. Over 140 events, ranging from group hikes to cooking classes, have been held to date.

Under the Pruitt Center, LiveWell is now expanding its reach into Minnesota and will provide mental health training.

"This new relationship is going to significantly expand our capacity to organize, host and participate in activities that are meaningful to our students and community," Lynn Goerdt, social work professor and LiveWell coordinator, said in a statement. "The majority of our activities will still be in the Superior community or on campus, but we are expanding our ability to engage in Minnesota since that is also where many of our students and staff live. Working with the Pruitt Center is a very natural collaboration because both our missions focused on improving well-being."

The new Gatekeeper Training will "equip community leaders with suicide prevention and mental health awareness skills," according to the news release.
