DC Fire works to extinguish flames in Northeast apartment, 1 seriously injured

When fire crews arrived they found smoke coming from the first floor of a 2-story row home.

WASHINGTON — DC Fire and EMS are working to extinguish a fire in Northeast Sunday evening.

Officials were called to the 2300 block of G St before 8:30 p.m. When fire crews arrived they found smoke coming from the first floor of a 2-story row home. Officials also say, a woman was found outside on the front porch. 

First responders took the woman to a hospital with serious injuries, her current condition is unknown. Crews battled flames for nearly 30 minutes before gaining control and extinguishing the fire. 

It is unclear what started the fire at this time. Investigators are on the scene working to determine the cause of the fire.
