Police in Wakefield on Wednesday are continuing the search for suspects in connection with a double shooting in the North Shore town on Tuesday night.
Officers responding to the area of Lakeshore Drive just off of Main Sreet after 7 p.m. found two people suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the Wakefield Police Department.
The victims, both men, were rushed to the hospital. There was no immediate word on their condition.
The shooting incident led to a heavy police presence that extended to the nearby Cumberland Farms on Lowell Street at the head of Lake Quannapowitt.
K9 teams were called in to sweep the area for evidence, but no arrests had been made as of Wednesday morning.
Police said they were searching for “an unknown number of suspects.”
Investigators believe the incident was targeted and not random.
Anyone who sees suspicious activity or observes anything that may be helpful to the investigation is asked to call Wakefield police at 781-245-1212.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
