The Clarion Ledger's Jackson Metro Student of the Week feature highlights the outstanding achievements of local high school students, academic and beyond.
Each week, you can vote for one winner out of five nominees.
Read about this week's nominees, and then vote in the poll below. The poll will close Thursday at noon. Winners will be announced on Friday morning each week.

Nominees
Ethan Berry: Berry is a junior at Brandon High School, known for his exceptional academic and extracurricular achievements. A member of the 30+ ACT Club, Berry consistently earns a place on the high honor roll and has achieved perfect scores on the state tests in math, biology and English II. He also excels in advanced placement courses, earning a score of 4 on both the AP world history and AP US government exams. Berry is actively involved in a variety of school activities, including the Brandon High School cross country team, the National Honor Society and the BHS theatre department. With a GPA of 99.0476, Berry aspires to attend Duke University in the future after graduation.
Natyah Buckley: Buckley is a junior at Northwest Rankin High School. Not only is she dedicated to her coursework and grades, but she also goes above and beyond despite challenges that she faces to achieve success. She is kind to others, always helpful and willing to go the extra mile. She is respectful to her teachers and classmates alike. With her drive and work ethic, her teachers believe Buckley has a very bright future ahead of her.
William “Eddie” Hall: Hall, a freshman at Germantown High School, has already made a positive impact on his school. A hard-working student and a member of the school's state championship-winning band program, Hall represents himself and his school with integrity, both in and out of the classroom. He is friendly and outgoing, with a humble spirit and a ready smile.
Elizabeth Nichols: Nichols is a senior at Jackson Academy. She is an accomplished student who excels both in and out of the classroom. Currently serving as the Student Body Vice President, Nichols is an officer on the Accents Dance Team and was voted by her peers to be a representative on the Homecoming Court. Nichols is an Academy Honors student, serving as a member of the National Honor Society, Rho Kappa, Mu Alpha Theta, and has been twice named as the recipient of the subject award for Spanish. She is active in several JA clubs, has been named a class favorite, and won the Faculty Award her junior year. Nichols is very active in her church and community, having participated in mission trips to Mexico and the Dominican Republic, and volunteering with the Hudspeth Regional Center and We Will Go Ministries.
Nadia Wright: Wright is a senior at Murrah High School. Born and raised in Jackson Mississippi, Wright is the embodiment of a scholar and creative. She is a special honors AP student and a two-time Gold McMullen Scholarship recipient, winner of 54 Scholastic awards in three years, including an American Vision Nominee, an American Voice Nominee and a National Silver Award. She is also one of five National Student Poets for the 2024-2025 School Year, the first one from Mississippi. Wright has spoken on panels about poetry and Black literature and has been a guest speaker for many other scholarly events. Through her nationally acclaimed writing and visual art, Wright aims to chronicle the complexities of Black existence, understand life's intricacies and record her journey. Her love of her Black culture and Black literary greats such as Toni Morrison, Kiese Laymon and Jesmyn Ward have paved the way for her unique writing fashion. Writing is Wright’s passion, and she dreams of being a nationally acclaimed Pulitzer Prize-winning author and receiving the MacArthur fellowship grant. After graduating, she plans to work in the nonprofit sector to help the disenfranchised and oppressed.
