Tempe firefighters battled a brush fire that spread to about 10 acres in the heart of the suburb Saturday.
The Tempe Fire Department responded to the fire during the afternoon near a basin area just west of Kyrene Road and south of the U.S. 60, according to Assistant Chief Anthony Butch.
The fire spread between 5 to 10 acres but did not result in any confirmed injuries or damaged structures, officials said.
State firefighters also helped contain the fire.
"The cause of the fire is unknown and is currently under investigation," Butch told The Arizona Republic in an email.
