If you want to go to a top-tier university, are some Mississippi high schools more likely to get you there? Two Mississippi schools share the No. 1 spot on the newest PolarisList.
The site only uses one factor to rank schools: How many students go to Princeton University, Harvard University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It does not look at class size or how well-funded the school is. It only gives a snapshot of schools that send students to some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the U.S.
Five Mississippi high schools made the list, and four are public.
Oxford High School in Oxford shares the spotlight with the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science in Columbus. Both sent two students to top-tier universities. Two at MSMS went to MIT. At Oxford, one went to Harvard and one enrolled at MIT.
Three other Missississippi high schools each sent one student to Harvard:
Jackson Preparatory School in Jackson.
Northwest Ranking High School in Flowood.
Lewisburg High School in Olive Branch.
Jackson Prep was the only private school on the list.
