The Riverside County coroner's office has identified the two people who died in a traffic collision near Mecca on Friday.
Mecca residents Yolanda Villanueva Cisneros, 52, and Fernando Villanueva Alvarado, 55, were in a black Toyota Tundra heading west on 68th Avenue. Around 10:15 a.m., their vehicle collided with a red Toyota Tacoma heading north on Grant Street. The collision, which occurred at the intersection of the two streets, made the Tundra overturn and hit a power pole.
The 25-year-old man driving the Tacoma had minor injuries, the California Highway Patrol said. As of Friday, CHP had not yet determined what caused the fatal traffic collision.
