Police officer shoots man to death in James City County Food Lion parking lot

A police officer shot and killed a man Sunday evening in the parking lot of a Food Lion on Sunday evening in James City County.

More than 30 officers from James City and the state police are at the scene. The grocery store is in a strip mall next to the Williamsburg Premium Outlets.

Police described it as an officer-involved shooting that occurred around 4:55 p.m. in the parking lot.

The police statement said one man had been killed and advised the public to avoid the area, but did not include any other details.
