WEST NYACK - Drivers heading south on the Palisades Interstate Parkway who want to jump onto the Thruway/I-287 heading north/west will have follow a loopy detour for another week.
The PIP south/Thruway north interchange at exit 9W is expected to remain blocked off until Saturday, April 5. That's when that portion of the work will be done, weather permitting, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.
The connector has been closed through most of March into April.
The exit ramp from the Palisades Interstate Parkway south (Exit 9W) to the NY State Thruway which has been closed for construction on the Route 304 overpass, is scheduled to re-open. Photographed on Friday, March 28, 2025.
The work is part of a project to fix up Route 304, which crosses over Interstate 287. The overpass was originally constructed in 1953.
The project was originally announced in June 2024 and is part of a $17.4 million project to rehabilitate three highway bridges in the Hudson Valley. The project also includes repairs to llington Road over the Taconic State Parkway in Yorktown and repairs to Route 52 over Interstate 84 in the town of Newburgh.
