PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — Part of the Capital Beltway in Prince George's County will be closed overnight Tuesday while crews fix a hole that appears to have cracked through the road.
From 8 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday, Maryland State Highway Administration is planning on repairing what it called a "deck puncture" on the overpass on the inner loop of I-95/I-495 that runs over MD-450, or Annapolis Road. According to officials, the two southbound right lanes will be closed and all lanes will reopen by 5 a.m., so long as the weather doesn't interrupt the work.
SKY9 video of the road showed the hole and a crack running across all lanes of the road. Authorities say it is safe to drive over but it will need to be repaired when traffic dies down overnight.
