Man dies after being shot multiple times in Peoria near Manual High School

A 34-year-old man was killed Monday night after he was shot multiple times just north of Manual High School.

The Peoria Police Department said that at 8:53 p.m., they received a ShotSpotter alert of six rounds fired in the 2400 block of West Howett Street in South Peoria. Later alerts showed an additional seven rounds fired in the same location.

When officers arrived, they found the man down with multiple gunshot wounds. He died shortly after being transported to a local hospital.

The man's identity will be released later by the Peoria County Coroner's Office, and the cause of death is currently under investigation.
