Grant means new equipment for VidWest, including an air conditioning unit

A new grant in support of VidWest Community Media Center means new equipment and even new curtains.

VidWest recently was awarded $6,080.95 from the Boone Electric Community Trust.

This will lead to the purchase of a mobile industrial air conditioning unit to keep the studio cool in the summer months; a bonded sim card router improving VidWest services in rural areas and other locations with poor internet connectivity for livestreaming productions; and replacement curtains for the storefront after the previous ones were "damaged by a rogue groundhog last year," a news release noted.

"We are incredibly grateful to the Boone Electric Community Trust for their generosity and support," said Matt Schacht, Studio Manager at Vidwest Community Media Center. "Without their contribution, Vidwest would not have access to modern computers, air conditioning, and other essential services for a modern community media center.

"We are thankful to have such wonderful community partners in the Mid-Missouri area, which allow us to provide more than $350,000 in service-related value to Columbia residents at minimal cost."

VidWest plans to use the funds immediately. A number of grants, including others from the Boone Electric Community Trust, have supported the organization's mission.
