CARTERET – A 51-year-old borough woman was injured Friday morning after police say she blew a stop sign and crashed into the side of a school bus.

Police responded around 8:36 a.m. to the area of Pershing and Pulaski avenues where an investigation found the woman driving a Nissan Pathfinder failed to stop at the stop sign on Pulaski Avenue and struck a small, 14-passenger school bus on the passenger’s side entrance door, said Carteret Police Capt. Michael Dammann.

There were no reported injuries to the children or the bus driver, a 32-year-old Perth Amboy woman employed by Saharose School Bus, Dammann said. The other driver was treated for minor injuries at the scene

Both vehicles leaked fluids and were towed from the scene.
