No injuries were reported in the crash.
SILVER SPRING, Md. — A driver crashed into a storefront in Silver Spring on Wednesday night after mistakenly hitting the accelerator, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue officials. No injuries were reported, and the building sustained no structural damage.
Fire crews responded to 2223 Bel Pre Rd. around 8:30 p.m. after reports of a vehicle striking a business. Upon arrival, they found the driver, who had been alone in the car, unharmed. No employees or customers inside the store were injured.
According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson David Pazos, the driver had been stationary before the accident.
"Next thing you know, he was in the wall," Pazos continued, “Our main concern was to make sure the driver was okay.”
Emergency responders evaluated the driver at the scene, but he declined medical attention, citing the low impact of the crash. The business was not forced to close, and operations are expected to resume.
Authorities determined that the crash did not involve another vehicle and appeared accidental. However, the driver will be cited, according to Montgomery County Police. Officers and property management were called to assess the scene before it was cleared.
The incident serves as a reminder of how quickly collisions can happen, even at low speeds. While no one was hurt, the crash prompted a response from multiple emergency crews, ensuring the safety of the driver and those inside the store.
Officials did not immediately release details about the driver or the specific citation issued.
