Newly Released Jailhouse Audio Captures Death Row Convict Taylor Parker Playing 'Doting Mother' Weeks After Brutal Murder

Newly released jailhouse audio has shed light on the stark contrast between convicted killer Taylor Parker’s maternal persona and the horrific crimes that landed her on Texas's death row. In a recorded phone conversation obtained by TMZ, Parker is heard speaking with her young daughter from the Bowie County jail, roughly one month after her arrest for the brutal October 2020 murder of Reagan Simmons-Hancock and the theft of her unborn child. The audio captures a seemingly affectionate, maternal exchange that stands in chilling opposition to the violent act she had committed just weeks prior.

The phone call, recorded while Parker was awaiting trial, features her adopting a gentle, doting tone as she speaks to her child. Throughout the conversation, Parker asks about her daughter's daily life, offers motherly reassurance, and maintains a facade of domestic normalcy despite her incarceration. Forensic psychologists and legal observers have noted that such interactions reflect the highly manipulative and compartmentalized behavior that prosecutors highlighted during her trial—an ability to project an image of a caring mother while concealing extreme violence.

Parker's conviction stems from the gruesome murder of 21-year-old Reagan Simmons-Hancock in New Boston, Texas. To prevent her boyfriend from leaving her, Parker had faked her own pregnancy for nearly ten months, buying fake bellies, posting fabricated ultrasound photos online, and even hosting a gender-reveal party. On October 9, 2020, Parker went to Simmons-Hancock's home, beat and stabbed the expectant mother to death, and used a scalpel to remove the unborn baby girl, Braxlynn Sage, from the womb. Parker was intercepted by state troopers shortly after the attack while driving with the newborn, claiming she had just given birth on the side of the road. The infant later died at a hospital.

Following a highly publicized trial in Bowie County, a jury found Parker guilty of capital murder and sentenced her to death in November 2022. Prosecutors successfully argued that Parker’s actions were meticulously planned and executed with cold calculation. The release of this jailhouse audio offers a grim window into Parker's state of mind post-arrest, showing her attempts to sustain her maternal identity even as the details of her crimes were being laid bare to the public. She remains one of only seven women currently on death row in the state of Texas.
