ASHBURN, Va. — Elijah Bieniemy, the 27-year-old son of Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach Eric Bieniemy, has been arrested and charged in connection with the shooting of his mother, Mia Bieniemy, authorities in Virginia confirmed on Monday.

According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded late Sunday evening to a report of a shooting at a residence in Ashburn, Virginia. She was immediately transported to a local hospital, where medical staff confirmed she was in stable condition as of Monday afternoon. The property where the incident occurred is owned by the Bieniemy family, dating back to Eric Bieniemy's recent coaching tenure in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

Elijah Bieniemy was taken into custody at the scene without further incident. He faces several felony charges, including aggravated malicious wounding and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
