‘A Shop for Killers’ Season 2 Slated for July Premiere on Disney+ and Hulu with Major New Cast Additions

The acclaimed South Korean action-thriller A Shop for Killers is officially returning for its highly anticipated second season. Scheduled to premiere on July 22, the eight-episode sequel series will stream globally on Disney+ and Hulu. Picking up from the explosive cliffhanger of the inaugural season, the new installment follows Jung Jian (played by Kim Hye-jun) as she fully embraces her new role running her late uncle’s secret underground weapons dispensary, "Murthelp." However, the narrative stakes are raised significantly with the unexpected return of her uncle, Jeong Jinman (Lee Dong-wook), who was previously presumed dead. Together, the uncle-niece duo must navigate a treacherous new landscape to defend their legacy.

This season, the central conflict intensifies as Babylon, the powerful mercenary organization humiliated by Jian in the previous season, seeks brutal retribution. In a desperate bid to reclaim its dominance and dismantle the boutique weapons shop, Babylon begins recruiting formidable overseas reinforcements, setting the stage for a high-stakes syndicate war. To match the scale of this expanded universe, the production has recruited top-tier international talent to its cast. Acclaimed actors from Apple TV+’s sweeping historical drama Pachinko and Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s Academy Award-winning Japanese feature Drive My Car are set to join the ensemble, bringing added dramatic gravitas and cross-cultural appeal to the high-octane thriller.

Based on the popular novel The Killer’s Shopping Mall by author Kang Ji-young, the first season of A Shop for Killers solidified Disney+'s foothold in the highly competitive Korean originals market. The series earned widespread critical praise for its innovative non-linear storytelling, intricate martial arts choreography, and the compelling dynamic between Lee and Kim. Industry analysts note that the rapid turnaround for Season 2 and the recruitment of prestigious pan-Asian talent reflect Disney’s aggressive strategy to bolster its local-language content library in the Asia-Pacific region, which remains a primary driver for global subscriber growth.
