FAST Provider Wedotv Expands Global Footprint with India Debut on Samsung TV Plus

MUMBAI — European-based Free Ad-supported Streaming TV (FAST) operator wedotv has officially entered the rapidly growing Indian television market. In an exclusive distribution agreement, the company has partnered with Samsung TV Plus to launch four of its flagship curated channels. The move instantly positions wedotv in front of millions of active Samsung Smart TV users across India, marking a major milestone in the broadcaster's international expansion strategy.

The rollout introduces a diverse portfolio of genre-specific programming tailored for Indian audiences. Included in the launch are wedotv Big Stories, wedotv Cars, wedotv Movies, and wedotv Sports. Notably, wedotv Big Stories—a channel dedicated to high-quality documentaries and factual entertainment—is produced in partnership with global content studio Big Media. The remaining channels will offer a mix of international automotive reviews, feature films, and niche sporting events, all localized to appeal to the region's diverse viewership demographics.

India represents one of the world's most dynamic landscapes for ad-supported streaming, driven by a surge in smart TV adoption and a strong consumer preference for free, premium content over traditional subscription models.

"Expanding into India is a transformative step for wedotv," said Philipp Rotermund, co-founder and CEO of wedotv. "Samsung TV Plus has proven to be an exceptional partner for us in Europe, and leveraging their massive footprint in India allows us to deliver high-quality, free entertainment to a highly engaged audience from day one. We believe our curated, genre-specific approach will resonate deeply with Indian viewers who are increasingly looking for premium, easily accessible content."

The partnership underscores the ongoing global momentum behind the FAST model, which has emerged as a formidable competitor to traditional pay-TV and subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) services. For Samsung TV Plus, the addition of wedotv’s specialized channels enriches its localized content library in India, where competition among hardware manufacturers and streaming platforms is intensifying. As digital advertising revenues in the Asia-Pacific region continue to climb, this distribution deal positions both companies to capture a significant share of India’s burgeoning connected-TV advertising market.
