China's Qihoo 360 Unveils AI Tools to Rival Anthropic's "Mythos" Framework

Chinese cybersecurity and internet giant Qihoo 360 has announced the development of a new suite of artificial intelligence tools designed to directly compete with "Mythos," the advanced proprietary framework developed by US-based AI safety and research company Anthropic. The announcement, made by 360 Group founder Zhou Hongyi at a technology summit in Beijing, marks another significant milestone in China's rapidly accelerating drive to establish technological self-reliance and achieve parity with leading Western generative AI models.

According to company representatives, the newly developed tools leverage Qihoo 360’s proprietary "360 Smart Brain" large language model (LLM). The company claims its new system can replicate the high-level reasoning, complex contextual understanding, and agentic workflows that have made Anthropic’s Mythos framework a benchmark for enterprise-grade AI deployment.

Bridging the Cross-Border Enterprise Gap

While the technology has clear implications for national security and digital sovereignty, Qihoo 360 emphasized its immediate utility for multinational enterprises and international business travel logistics. As global organizations navigate increasingly fragmented digital ecosystems between the East and West, 360's new tools aim to bridge the gap by offering seamless localization, real-time cross-border compliance mapping, and high-fidelity translation services.

"Our goal is not merely to replicate existing Western architectures, but to optimize them for the complex, highly regulated environments in which global enterprises operate today," said Zhou Hongyi during his keynote address. "By matching the capabilities of systems like Anthropic's Mythos, we are ensuring that domestic and international firms operating within the region have access to world-class, secure AI infrastructure without relying on external cloud APIs."

The Geopolitical AI Race

The development comes amid tightening U.S. export controls on advanced semiconductor technology, which have forced Chinese tech firms to innovate on algorithmic efficiency rather than sheer computing scale. Industry analysts suggest that Qihoo 360's ability to match Anthropic's specialized frameworks indicates that Chinese developers are successfully optimizing their software to bypass hardware bottlenecks.

As the tech sector continues to fragment along geopolitical lines, the rollout of these competitive tools highlights a growing trend: Chinese tech firms are shifting focus from general-purpose consumer chatbots to highly specialized, secure enterprise solutions capable of operating independently of Western tech stacks.
