‘Breaking Bad’ Star Giancarlo Esposito Signs With UTA for Representation

LOS ANGELES — Award-nominated actor, director, and producer Giancarlo Esposito has officially signed with United Talent Agency (UTA) for representation in all areas. The industry veteran, best known for his chilling and iconic portrayal of drug kingpin Gustavo "Gus" Fring in AMC’s critically acclaimed dramas Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, was previously represented by Creative Artists Agency (CAA). This high-profile agency shift positions Esposito to leverage UTA’s extensive global network as he continues to expand his creative footprint both in front of and behind the camera.

The transition comes during an exceptionally prolific period for Esposito. Among his highly anticipated upcoming projects is writer-director Noah Segan’s The Only Living Pickpocket in New York, a feature film in which he stars alongside fellow industry heavyweights John Turturro and Steve Buscemi. Esposito’s recent slate also highlights his versatility across mediums, including leading AMC’s dramatic thriller series Parish—which he also executive produced—and appearing in Guy Ritchie’s hit Netflix series The Gentlemen, as well as Francis Ford Coppola’s self-funded sci-fi epic Megalopolis.

A Legacy of Versatility and Franchise Success

Over a career spanning more than four decades, Esposito has established himself as one of Hollywood’s most formidable and respected character actors. His expansive portfolio includes:

  • Five Primetime Emmy Nominations: Recognized for his outstanding work in both Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, as well as his role as the tyrannical Moff Gideon in the Disney+ Star Wars series, The Mandalorian.
  • Genre-Defining Roles: Notable performances in Amazon Prime's superhero satire The Boys (as Stan Edgar) and memorable collaborations with filmmaker Spike Lee in classics such as Do the Right Thing, School Daze, and Mo' Better Blues.
  • Behind-the-Camera Ventures: Directing credits including the feature films Gospel Hill and The Show, underscoring his ambitions as a filmmaker.

By signing with UTA, Esposito joins a powerhouse agency renowned for its robust packaging capabilities and packaging of prestige television, independent film, and digital media. The move is expected to bolster Esposito's development pipeline, allowing him to secure more producing and directing opportunities while maintaining his status as one of the industry's most in-demand actors. He continues to be managed by Thruline Entertainment and represented by Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
